New horror DVDs: For a little shock in between.
The dark season begins: Temperatures drop, trees shed their leaves, supermarkets sell Halloween accessories and b-ware-Ladenkino asks: Why not enjoy some scary long autumn nights? So on Friday 13 September, we launched a 24-hour horror film marathon. The high number of visitors showed that many Berliners need this kind of soul food.
We upgraded our DVD rental service accordingly: With horror thrillers for optimal shock therapy within your own four walls. The coffins creak and the chainsaws screech. In addition to classics and new releases, we also have rarities and insider tips in our range. Even experienced nerds can make discoveries here!
For example, who knows the vampire film LEPTIRICA (The She-Butterfly, 1973)? This is considered to be the first Yugoslavian horror film: the setting is a medieval farming village in whose corn mill a vampire is up to mischief. LEPTIRICA dispenses with scary clichés and standard ingredients and finds its own aesthetic of horror. And we can guarantee one thing: You’ve never heard a vampire scream like in LEPTIRICA!
Or: How about the Belgian film ‘PRAYING MANTRIS’ (2003): Musician Julien falls for the beautiful Sylvia (Lou Broclain). Unfortunately, she is a ‘praying mantis’ who has to kill for her own survival. In the past, painters such as Rene Magritte and Paul Delvaux showed Belgium’s surrealist potential. Nightmarish scenes in PRAYING MANTRIS prove that this source is by no means exhausted.
